Low water Pressure Tub and Shower Only
Hello. My other water sources in my house have fine pressure. My tub does not. When I turn the hot or cold handle on, the water will come out the tub spout but turning the knob more does not make more water come out as it should. It is a 2 handle faucet with a shower divertor in the tub spout. The shower has low flow I believe because it is the water diverted up that is already dismal.
After many online searches I removed the hot water handle and then the faucet valve. I was stupid to not turn the water off first and the water did shoot across my tub to the wall at a forceful rate that I wish it would come out of the spout at. After I shut the hot water off and left the hot water handle and valve off, I turned on the cold water handle and now when I turn it on more, the pressure will build when turning the handle more.
This tells me that I must have isolated the problem but I don't know how to fix it. The hot faucet valve appears to be in fine condition. It seems strange to me that with the hot valve and handle off the cold faucet does what it should correctly, coming out the hot water side. Does this mean that there must be something wrong with the hot faucet valve?
I know that I reinstalled the hot faucet handle wrong because I can spin it all the way around now. But it does turn on and off however everything else is as it was before. I had a theory that the valve was not being fully opened when the handle was being turned but now that I can turn it all the way around, not on purpose, I guess that theory isn't right.
Sorry so long just trying to be descriptive. Even if this is something I can't handle, I do have some handy people coming over to work on some other things I could instruct if I get this diagnosed. That's what I did with my furnace :-)
    Thanks!

Did you replace the washers when you had the valve apart? Does your valve look like this only it's got two handles? (see image) Can you get good pressure when you divert to the shower? Since you've got pressure coming into the valve could the problem be in the spout? Does your valve have a brand name? How old is it? Back to you. Tom
