I'm just curious. How long do you have to be a licensed teacher to have two teaching jobs? For instance, an elementary teacher part time and a middle school spanish teacher part time

That would depend on the laws and regulations where you'll be wanting to teach. Also, it would depend on what you're qualified to teach according to your teaching license. So, it would be helpful to know a location here and what you're qualified to teach as listed on your teaching license.

Hi again, alliesuecat!

When I taught music and fine art types of classes for years, I was also qualified to teach a number of other, different types of courses at the middle and junior high levels. Those things were listed on my teaching license from when I first received it.

So, if the opportunity to teach more than one course during the same school year was there, I would think that I would have been able to teach anything for which I was qualified to teach, as was listed on my license.

That was with an Iowa Teaching License.

Like I said previously though, it would depend on the laws and regulations where someone was wanting to teach as well as the qualifications as listed on the teaching license.

Hello clough. I live in Indiana and I used to know someone with two jobs. She taught second grade in the mornings and middle school spanish in the afternoons. Not my teacher but the other second grade teacher. This was 12 years ago but when I look back on it I wonder how experienced she was at teaching.

I was qualified right after graduating from college with a teaching certificate (K-9) to be able to teach 4th grade part of the day as well as middle school Latin part of the day.

As long as you have the degree and the state certificate (license), you can teach. You would have done one or more internships during college (for experience).
