    Laptop keyboard problems
    Hi all

    Please help.

    My laptop has started generating random characters when I am writing an email.
    At the end of some lines there looks to be a carraige return symbol and at the end of others there looks to be a number nine type symbol (althought it isn't a nine). A central dot is also visible between each word.

    I think it has something to do with the function key but not sure. Please help!

    BTW, I can type this message and have no problems.

    This is a guess, but are you using Outlook with Word as your e-mail editor? If so, I suspect you have Word set to view hidden characters. Open Word, go to Tools>Options under the General or view tab uncheck the Hidden Characters check box. See if that helps.

    Yes I am using outlook and word, but the box you suggest was already unchecked within word. Thanks.

    What about individual characters? What you describe about the dot between words and the paragraph marks is typical of hidden characters.
