    Shower/Tub rough in conversion
Can I use a shower/tub rough in for a shower only. I would think I could just put a plug on the bottom of the valve where it goes down to the tub spout.

Your description escapes me a bit. You have a tub but want just a shower, is that right? Are you removing the tub and installing a shower pan?

Do you wish to keep the tub or tear it out and convert to a shower? Please explain with more details. Tom

This is for a shower only. I have a chance to buy a tub/shower kit (rough-in included) that matches the rest of the fixtures (delta victorian) for 1/4 of the price of a shower only in the same style. I just want to cap off the portion of the valve that goes down to the tub spout. Will this work? This is new construction and any help is appreciatied.

    Hi Dylan:

You are all set here.. ;)

Cap off the tub spout outlet as you suggested and shower away!

Is your tub/shower DIVERTER at the shower valve or is it on the tub spout itself? If at the tub spout then you luck out... noone will be able to tell! If on the valve trim itself then there will simply be a reduction in volume when the diverter is directed to tub in the future.

If this is new construction and a permit has been pulled then you will need to limit the temperature of this valve to about 110 degrees F using the temperature limiting device for your valve (see instructions and check with your local plumbing inspector to see what his particular temperature limit is for showers).

    Any questions? Let us know...

OK if you mean to cap right at the mixing valve behind the tub you can do that. Many of the Moen valves I install come with a plug for the shower diverter and you are just doing the reverse.

I believe the diverter is at the tub spout. Thanks for all the help!
