Craftsman 24989 3 bin bagger questions
    Hello,

The sticker under the hood of my 2004 Craftsman LT1000 tractor says it will take a 3 bin 9 bushel hard bagger model 24989. Does anyone know the corresponding 917.xxxxxx part number(s) for this setup, or the 917.xxxxxx part number of a 3 bin hard bagger (with 2 supporting posts) that will fit?

I'm not looking for the 24898 replacement w the 1 piece mount, I'm looking for
The 2 rail (post support and bagger support tube model(s) that will fit this tractor.
Reason I ask is I was given a 3 bin bagger off an EZ3, model 917.249670, that
Does not fit... the bagger support tube hits the fender. I want to identify what
The bagger support tube, mounting bracket or any other pertenant part numbers
Are required to make this fit.

    Thanks in advance,

What is the 917.xxxxx of the tractor itself?

    Hello,

It's a LT1000 917.273372. The 3 bin hard bagger I was given is a 917.249670 and is from a 917.256561 EZ3. I would like to identify the 917.xxxxxx 3 bin bagger with 2 mounting tubes) that will fit my tractor so I can compare them and identify the part numbers of the brackets/tubes I need to replace to make this fit.

    Thanks

    Hi,
Going to Sears yields that as being a substitute. Try:
    Bagger.3-bin, Part #24898 | Lawn & Garden/Yard/Farm | SearsPartsDirect.com
and click the link to talk to a parts specialist. That may or may not yield some satisfaction. My experience with most has been variable. I think it is "luck of the draw" in some cases, and worse in others. (I will not name favorites, or opposite except in response to a question that involves that manufacturer; Sears has a mixed record with me!)
    Peace,

Yes, I am aware the 24898 will fit, but that model also changed the mounts from the 2 posts to a single, which is why I am looking for the original 24989 numbers. I can't find anything on the Sears page that equates the 5 digit model number 24989to the 9 digit repair numbers.

I did find 917.249650 that has different rails... does anyone know if that bagger will fit my 917.273372 tractor?

    Regards

    Hi,
Okay, that makes things a bit clearer. AYP (Husqvarna) says that the 24989 replaces the 24965 and the 24988 is a substitute. Had no way of knowing what you found objectionable until you stated it.

Ok Clarke, same question then... does anyone know what the 917.xxxxxx number is that equates to a 24989 or a 917.xxxxxx model that using a bagger support tube and post support, will fit my 917.273372 tractor which BTW, is green with yellow side CRAFTSMAN decals?

Also, I did speak to a Sears parts specialist and had loads of luck, all bad... Sears wants to sell me the 24898... not doing it... not when I can use this one for $50 worth of parts, I just didn't want it to be moused.

    Appreciate your help.

    Hi,
As I said, my experience is variable. The best are generally specialized. As it turns out, you should seem to add 917 at the beginning and a 0 at the end. Try:

Arrhhhh... couldn't see the forest through the trees... thanks for the wake up call on part identification...

So, the 24989 (single mount) replaces the 24965 (double mount), then the 917. 24965 0 double mount is the one I'm looking for... thank you thank you thank you.

That's the puppy, and in comparing part for part, the support tube, bracket and 4 shoulder bolts are the difference.

    Thanks to all
