Possible shorted door switch on dishwasher
Good morning. I have a Kenmore 665.15634 dishwasher that no longer powers on at all. Previously, I had difficulty setting the controls on the front panel to get it to wash, and it looked like there might be an issue with the control board. One of the control lights would light very dimly once I got it set. Yesterday, it ran through a partial cycle and stopped with water remaining in the bottom of the washer. I removed the inner panel from the front door to access the door switch and control panel. I checked for power to the switch, which was there (the malfunction did not trip the 20A breaker). The black wire to the power switch was charred at the connection to the switch, and possibly one of the leads in the ribbon cable to the control circuit board--it looks like there might be a light-brown spot on one of the leads into the circuit board, but the connection looks good. What should I troubleshoot (and how) before replacing the door switch and/or the control circuit? I obviously don't want to burn out anything new and expensive I replace! Thanks. --Mark

I installed a new GE Tall Tub dishwasher, but now a few weeks later I cannot get the door to open after setting it to wash the di. There is no apparent blockage, but I do not know what to try first.
