    Hi Wet...

    Could you provide a little more info. Here.. Why are you thinking about installing a sump pump in the window well.. Is water getting through the window.. If so, they make clear window well cover that may help here... no electricity needed... ;)

    Let us know more... O.K.?

    I'll add my $.02 here. I have a temporary sump pmp in the window well. The water can be cured by either the pump or taking a neighbor to court. His Landscaping is causing my problem. A window cover won't help.

    The biggest issues and I haven't been able to solve it yet is to find a small sump basin. Most basins are about 18" diameter to start. The well has been re-stocked with gravel and an alarm comprised of a towell and water alarm inside are used. It may need to be used once or twice a year.

    It's best to solve it without needing electricity, so look how you can solve it that way first.

    I took the approach of using a 12 V Bilge pump. I had to buy something when a hurricane went through town and the main sump pump failed in the house. It's outfitted with a garden hose connection and if nned be, I can connect to the car or a 12 V power supply in an emergency. I haven't made up the cables to do so. The advantage is that the pump is really small. I used a Rule Mate pump.

    12V Power wires are run from a porch window through a flat cable to the window. I brick is placed over the pump. A window cover keeps out the leaves and a garden hose is run along side of the house to the front of the house and uses the existing gutter discharge cement thingy.

    Bottom line it works and it's only turned on when necessary, 1 or two times a year.

    A permanent installation really requires a small sump pit which I haven't found yet. A small pump. A 9 to 10" pump a decent float is easy to find. Be careful of the floats on a cord. They need a lot of room to operate.

    You need a cover and a small flex line for vibration. Car heater hoses work great. Then you need to plumb a discharge path not using garden hose.

    I'm surprised. A drywall bucket makes a fine sump crock. Just drill a bunch of 1/2 holes in side.
