Ceiling fan and light don't work
We moved into this house two years ago and when we arrived the ceiling fan in our dining room didn't work but the light on the fixture did. The light on the fan is run via a dimmer switch. A few months ago I turned the light off when I went to bed and the next day when I went to turn the light on... nothing... not even the slightest hint of light. I tried using the pull cord on the fixture itself thinking maybe our overnight guests had used the light while we were sleeping but still got nothing. The switch next to the dimmer switch still works... it turns on our overhead kitchen light. Not sure what the problem is or how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could just be a bad dimmer. Open the switch box and test the black going into the switch, should be hot 24/7. Throw the switch and you should show power on the exiting black wire. You are testing between the balcks and a white or, for test purposes, a ground.

The first thing to do is see if you have voltage at the switch. However, the fact that the fan has not worked in the past may indicate a problem in the fan itself. Check voltage at switch then post back.

I have a Hunter ceiling fan with 4 lights. One of the bulbs crackled a few times, popped and burned out. I replaced the bulb, but the new ones (I've tried several) do not work. I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan that contains three light bulbs. I do not know the age as it was in the house when we moved in two years ago. Ceiling fan light won't work [ 2 Answers ]

Hi - I am replacing an older, noisy fan/light (which both worked) with a new, quieter one. Both the old and the new are/were set to run the light off the wall switch and the fan off the pull chain. The problem is the wiring diagram shows only one white (neutral) wire coming from the...

Light won't work on ceiling fan [ 1 Answers ]

I had a ceiling fan installed, and the light on it quit working. I thought there was probably a problem with the light kit, but since I didn't like the fan, I replaced the whole thing with a new fan and light. The fan has always worked, but the light still doesn't. Any thoughts on what it could be?
