    How many openings is this?
I am finishing a basement. In one room where I will be installing nine can lights via two switches, how many openings is that considered? One switch will control six of the lights while the other will control three lights. It will be a 20A circuit. I am planning on installing outlets on the same circuit if it is possible as well. Thanks!

"how many openings is that considered" this seems to be an unusal type of question to ask, why do you ask? Seems like 9 to me unless there is some quiry code trick in your town. I never put the receptacles on lights on the samne circuit when doing a basement. Too muc chance a popped breaker will make the room dangerously dark

Don't understand the question. Nine lights with say 100 watt bulbs would be 7.5 amps. Remaining 12.5 amps available for outlets. What's you definition of "opening". Are you USA?
