    Shadow people-real or hallucination?
Okay, so I'm home alone and had the great idea of watching A Haunting episodes on this dim, autumn day. Watching the show reminded me of my own encounter with shadow people when I was 14-15.

So when I was 14 I developed seasonal allergies out of nowhere and started taking benadryl. I was impatient and not used to the allergies, so I took the benadryl often at regular doses and occasionally at overdoses (I never took more than six). I had headaches and felt like crap and all kinds of lovely things (I only messed with the benadryl the summers I was 14 and 15).

The worst symptoms were the hallucinations. That's what I call them now, and it very likely is the truth. At the time however, I thought my house was haunted. I woke up at 3am on the dot on three separate occasions to shadowy figures on my ceiling. Once it was a little girl in braided pig tails. Another time it was a lady in a dress. A third time it was a man in a hat. When I turned on the lights and got my mom, they were gone. I haven't seen them since I stopped taking the benadryl, but to this day I sleep with the TV light.

Then the other incident was when I slept on my top bunk and had a dream(?). I had just fallen asleep (I think, I'm not sure I was sleeping) when I felt pressure on my chest/throat, like something was preventing me from making noise. I kept trying to make a noise as I felt like I was being lifted, lower body first, toward the ceiling. Then I made a noise and everything stopped. That was around the time of the benadryl too.

I know I'm not the only one who has had these experiences, but then I was under the influence of benadryl. So do you think it was a bad trip? Or a coincidence? Or did the benadryl just weaken my defenses/make me more perceptive?

I think I'm just freaking myself out, but I searched shadow people and couldn't even read it because the image of the man in the hat was all too familiar. I don't want to open a can of worms, especially since I'm back in the house where it happened. (((And I will never touch benadryl again for any reason.)))

I will only say one thing about this. A lot of people believe in a parallel dimension to us. Therefore shadow people who are from it . I believe in this and that, but not shadow people.

I'd rather not believe in ghosts or shadow people or anything of that nature. I think I just spooked myself watching that show in semi-darkness and remembering what was more than likely the result of too much benadryl. I've always had an overactive imagination and haunted myself with it quite a bit when I was younger. It's just weird so many people have had similar experiences.

Thank you anyway for your response.

Well... I'm not sure this helps at all, but I had pretty much exactly the same experience night after night for about 3 years... now it only happens every once in a while. I know I'm not schizophrenic, and I was stone cold sober when it all happened. So basically, you're not crazy either. But I don't think that any of these occurrences will bear any relevance to your life, thank christ. As far as I know its been harmless to me.
