My husband is desperate to gain custody of his son with his ex-wife. His ex-wife is a drug addict with just about every charge on her record that you can imagine. She still has custody of the kid. This is really sad!! A couple years ago, she not only had him in a motel room with drugs, but the drugs were also spread on the bed where he laid asleep. Another bad thing is that she was busted that night and nothing was done for my step-son! What can we do? Since we pay so much child support, we cannot afford the lawyer?:confused:

A forced change of custody is very difficult and doing it without a lawyer is even more difficult. My advice would be to cut out everything and save up for a lawyer.

If there is a concern of neglect or abuse, she can be reported to the police/Child Protective Services.
