Ceiling fan light will not work
I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan and it has worked fine for 9 years. Last night the bulbs made a popping sound and burnt out. I tried replacing them and now none of the 4 light will turn on. What do I need to do? I know they sell fan light kits (or something like that) or is it better to call an electrician since I know nothing about this. If it is something simple... let me know so that I can get this working again. Thanks

First, make sure that the breaker feeding this fixture did not open.

    Does the fan work?

Than call an electrician. If you have no experience inside the main panel box and the failure is a loose Neutral conductor, then you might as well know you would be well within the "Kill Capacity" of that Panel.

Yes the fan is working fine. The fan is through a switch on the wall. The light and fan have separate increase switches on the side of the switch. I just wanted an opinion before I sink the money on calling someone.

All 4 bulbs went out at once?

What type of bulbs, what type of switch?

    I suspect a loose connection.

Yes all 4 bulbs went out at once. When I removed the bulbs they all looked burnt out. So I replaced them and nothing. No light.

The switch looks like a light switch and has a dimmer on both the left and right of it. One for the fan and the other for the light.

Remove the switch. Make a direct connection between the hot wire and the wire going to the light. If light burns problem is switch. If light does not burn problem is in the fan/light. Probably in the light kit itself. Of course it could be wiring connection to the light in the ceiling box.

Check the wall switch first as Harold says. From what it sounds like, it is a three wire wall switch. You can try connecting all three wires together to see if the light and fan BOTH come on, but PAY ATTENTION to what they were ORIGINALLY connected to.
