Water level in toilet is not balanced
The water in the toilet basin rises to the point where it may overflow, then it goes down very slowly, to a very low level. There is a knocking or gurlging noise coming from the toilet.

What should we do to put our toilet back to normal.

It sounds like a blocked vent or poor venting, you need snake the vent from the roof vent, good luck.

    Hi all:

John... before we get them up on the roof, let's try the basics first.

Cami... sounds like your toilet is partially clogged. Next time you flush the toilet I want you to take the plunger and plunge away at the toilet bowl. The pull on the plunger is more important than the push... ;) Just be sure you have good suction before pulling/pushing.

If that fails to fix it then I would suggest that you go to home depot (or similar store) and purchase a CLOSET AUGER (see image) and snake the toilet itself... see if you can pull anything back up and out of the toilet bowl. With any luck this will fix the issue.

Finally, if that fails to fix the issue I would have you lift the toilet and see if you can find something in the bottom of the toilet bowl (turn upside down to see).

Let us know what you think...
