    What rights do I have after buying a used car
    I bought a used 2003 Cadillac CTS yesterday. They assured me it had been checked out by s techand the the tires were new.

    One the way home with the car the CHECK COOLENT LEVEL light came on. I checked the coolant ,cold, and it was low enough to bring the light on. Then I really checked the tires, the two front tires were new but when I felt the tread on the back tires they were almost bald in the center.

    Now they inspected this car and put a sticker on my windshield, how could they pass it if the back tires were really worn. My question is;

    Can I take the car back and make them give me better tires for the back? I did buy it
    AS IS but I was relying on them telling me the truth about the car.

    I am going to take it to a state inspection place and see what they tell me before I go back to the dealer.

    What State?

    As is means just that - you bought it as is but the State is important.

    No you have basically almost no rights unless it is all written in the contract, did they list new tires or just tell you?

    You had the right ( and really should be a obligation) to take the car to a third part mechanic to be checked out, will cost a couple hundred dollars but save you 1000's in the long term.
    You have the right before you buy to check every inch of the car and drive it around to check it out.

    It appears you merely believed a salesman and have learned an expensive lesson

    You can go back to the salesman who told you new tires and try but I would not hold my breath

    You are kidding, right! You relied on a USED CAR salesman to tell you the truth?

    I would never buy a used car without having my mechanic inspect it. If you don't have a mechanic, there are services that will come and inspect a car on site.

    When you buy As Is, you effectively give up your rights since you are saying that you accept the car in the condition it is turned over to you.

    The only saving grace you have is that you purchased from a dealer rather than a private individual. Your state may have rules that regulate dealers that may help you.
