I am in the process of finishing my basement and unfortunately the toilet drain that was roughed in previously is approximately 18” from the wall. I need to either reposition the drain or find a toilet that has an 18” rough in. In talking to a few builders they suggested repositioning the drain by using a chop saw to cut up the concrete, removing the current drain, and the extending it the necessary distance.

Before proceeding I wanted to seek advice from plumbers. Is this an impossible task? On the surface it does seem a bit messy but well within what I think I can accomplish.

The plumber attempted to allow for the 4 1/8th. Inch a furred out wall wityh a plate would give you. Unfortunately that still left you with a 14" rough. First figure out what you're going to do with the wall. Install a 3 1/2" plate with 5/8ths drywall or use 5/8ths fur strips with another 5/8ths dry wall and go from there. You can still keep the closet bent and raiser if you cut the floor and extend the center of the raiser back to the desired distance. We rough our toilets in at 12" off the wall to the center of the raiser. (All plumbers measures are to the center of the fitting) Make a cut and use No-Hub Bands, (see image) to couple the pipes together. Good luck, Tom
