    UV Lights in outdoor ponds
My pond, since the beginning of summer has not been doing good, lots of algea. I tried everything and finally decided to spend the 150.00 to get the UV light.

About 500 gallons, with a new 750 pump that leads up to a bio filter.
The first week I just let it run. The last 2 weeks I have been pumping out 1/4 or so and filling with fresh water (per instructions), and cleaning the pump (not bio) everyday. It is looking better.

Should I be doing anything else?
My instructions say to clean the light twice a year, should I clean it now because it was so dirty?

OK I did that just now and it wasn't visibly dirty, but cleaned the glass tube and metal enclosure anyway.

Any other suggestions? Or just keep doing what I'm doing?:)
