VA attachment of Social Security Disability
The VA claims an overpayment in my VA disability pension even though I notified them over a year ago to stop the pension. Now they claim I owe them $18,736.00. My attorney who handled my disability claim told me that I could keep both, but the VA says no, and that I have to pay it back.

I have been told that they cannot attach my Social Security Disability. Is this true, or am I in deep, deep Ka-Ka?

If your attorney told you you could keep the money, then take whatever paperwork you have from the VA and go sit in his office and show him this. If he says he was wrong, then you will have to repay the money. You could insist that he fight the VA for you since he did say it was okay to keep both. Let's see what he says about this.
