Why do religious people always crave horrible things happening to the world? They revel in the idea of calamity occurring and the world being destroyed. How pathetic, how hateful.
You wonder why so many people say religion is a poison?

cadillac59,
You sure do have a dismal picture of religious people.
I know a lot of religious people and none of them are as you describe,"always crave horrible things happening to the world."
Horrible things have happen in this world and will continue to happen but the religious people I know and am aware of work and pray that such will not happen.
If and when they do a great many religious people do what they can to help ease the pain and suffering caused by whatever the trouble was.
It's called loving your fellow mankind.
Peace and kindness,
Fred

If it weren't for religion the world would probably be a pretty nice place. But with fellow mammals always thinking the have the right to tell everyone else how to live because their god told them so, all the while wishing for the destruction of the world so everyone will be under the thumb of their god, it should be no surprise the world has the trouble and terror it does.

It is evil that is trying to bring this country down. We can stand by and watch or
Start praying and battle for our country. There are places on the net you can go
To and pray with others. There is a president prayer site I have been going to that is very good. What I see going on is hate talk that is growing almost out of control, people are paid to promote this. Who is going to stand up and battle this call to pray for our country
And stop the evil and hate that is burning across this nation. God is the answer and I hope you here the call to pray. Only though prayer can we tap into the limitless resources, of God.
Only by praying can we test the Lord's promise. "If you ask anything in my name, I will
do it" John 14;14 In love for our country we must unite ourselves for the good of our country.
Let us pray for the president and all elected, an appointed officials, that they will be able to
Carry out there duties, and do what is right for the country in a godly way. When godly
People are silent evil triumphs. This evil and hate must be stopped, it can effect every person
And everything in the US. Prayer is power and sharper then a two edged sword, it will
Bring us together in power. Pray like your life and country depended on it, because
It does. I am 78 yrs young, wife, a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, there
Lives and your life and your love ones, depends on what we do, lets pray.
Hevenly Father, open our eyes and enlighten us to see the truth behind the evil and
Hate that is going on in our country. We seek Thy counsel, and put every problem facing
This country in your hands, asking You to give us an answer.I believe you will
Put the desire in our hearts to seek your face in this time, in Jesus name, Aman!!

Amen!
I also pray that Joseph finds his place right beside the Pharaoh so that he can advice him according to God's will and save the people from the great hunger!
That is a prayer that God put into my heart for a time now and I thought that it has to do with my life only but I see now that it is a much more wide prayer!

You seem like a really nice person, Fred. Maybe you are the exception, but most believers I've run into aren't as kind as you.
I just can't generate any interest in the church anymore, or in religion. Maybe it's because I'm gay, maybe the church has hurt me too much in the past. Who knows?

I don't believe the seven years of tribulation have begun yet but when they do ,I don't see NYC as the only victim.

cadillac59,
All Christians are SUPPOSED to be nice. Unfortunately some are not; far to many.
If the bad members of The Church have hurt you I'm very sad about that.
I think that you and all of God's children should be able to find comfort and valuable guidance in The Church.
I believe that is part of why Jesus founded The Church.
I hope that you will find your way back and be happy with it.
Peace and kindness,
Fred

Thanks for your kind words, Fred. You are a good person.
I haven't thrown god out the window totally, but if I come back to the church it will be as I am, as a gay man, totally out about it and proud of who I am without compromise.

Thanks Fred. You are what they call in Germany, a Mensch. You know, a human being-- a decent and good person (I think the Jews use the same word because they get it from Yiddish, a German dialect--'You're a real mensch!'--- I think I've heard some New Yorkers say that, but they say the same thing in Germany).

cadillac59,
Yes, I've heard the word used that way.
I do know a smattering of the German language for my maternal grandfather was from Germany and spoke no English.
Thanks,
Fred

I wonder where the idea started that Christians are looking for death and destruction? Nothing could be further from the truth.
What we look forward to is a time when all sin, sickness, pain and sorrow will be banished from Earth.
That will happen when Jesus returns and sets up the Kingdom of God on Earth. Even the animals will be blessed in that kingdom, and the ground itself will produce as it did in the Garden of Eden.
What we attempt to tell everyone is this.
Just as you would make plans to take an extended trip that you are looking forward to, so you must make plans to make your home in the coming Kingdom.
The price of admission is already paid. All you need to do is RSVP.
And yes, I absolutely do believe what I have written. Neither you or I have any evidence to the contrary.

You don't know where the idea came from that Christians want to see the earth destroyed? That's part of your teachings-- the rapture and all that nonsense. That's wishing for the destruction of the planet and civilization and I think it is an abhorrent aspect of Christianity.

This comment merely shows your total ignorance of what Christians believe.
Before you bash us, you need to at least spend enough study to learn what we really believe.

Christians do NOT want the earth destroyed.
They just know it is inevidible.
I warned people for 20 years that 9/11 was going to happen on Sept 11 01 or Sept 11 02 and everybody thought I was crazy. Did that mean I wanted it to happen??
NOPE!
