I purchased a remote for my Hampton Bay fan

Let me start by saying IT IS NOT A DIP SWITCH ISSUE. For about 2 weeks the remote worked great.

All of a sudden it quit working. Lights would not turn on, even if I used the pull cord. Fan would only change speed by fan cord. So, I took down the whole fan, re-wired back to without remote. THE LIGHTS WORKED. The same lights that didn't earlier.

I tried a NEW remote, same thing happened - lights would not work, remote would not respond. I put the remote to another fan - and it worked!

This one fan does NOT work with the remote all of a sudden? It's an older fan and hampton bay has no idea who is responsible for it because it was made by someone else that is now closed.

Any ideas?

If it works when it is not wired to a remote, then the problem is with the remote. It's possible you got two dud remotes or that they were/are wired improperly. The only reason a fan won't work with a working remote is if it has some internal electronics thata re not compatable-- but then it wouldn't work in the first place.

Oddly enough, the same remotes work in another fan! And my remote control can operate them. If I put the same remote and same receiver that works in the other two fans back in my bedroom fan, it makes the fan act funky and the remote no longer responds.

But the bedroom fan works fine with no remote.. . It's possible the wiring is different on this fan, make sure it is wired correctly. Beyond that I have no particular idea, other than try a different remote kit.. . There's no reason, if a light works, and the remote works, they shouldn't work together. A light is a very simple circuit there aren't any electronics in it that would interfere. If you're sure the problem is in the fan and not the remote, I would follow the path of the current to and from the light and make sure nothing is out of place.
