    ex love/friend cut off contact
Ok so this is kind of random - not relavent to my other thread whatsoever. Back in July I sent an email to my Exbf from a long time ago - he and I went out for 3 years and for a year and half of that we were engaged. He had been dating someone new for the past eyar, and he cut off alll contact with me back in January (we used to be really great friends for like 7 years after we stopped dating so it was really out of the blue). Well I decided to send him an email back in July to see how he was doing - I didn't expect a response (I had sent him an email back in March and didn't get one, but couldn't help trying again).

Well - he responded the next day with a lengthy email about his life and love and stuff - he had broken up with his live in girlfriend and was now dating someone new, and lots of other stuff about life. I responded a few days later - nothing really terrible just about my life and some info about mutual friends. This email was 2 weeks ago. Didn't hear anything back from him - so I just assumed I wouldn't - no big deal. I didn't really think he was trying to rekindle our friendship just give me an update.

Well about 20 minutes ago I got an email from him, that said the following (subj line is I'm sorry and good bye)

I am sorry, but my contact with you just continues to throw too many wrenches in my life. I really do wish you the best, and I am sorry that I can't be there for you anymore. Please don't contact me and don't respond

I am kind of mystified by the email - I didn't really ask him to 'be there for me" in my past email or anything - I wasnt' tryign to throw a wrench into his life either. My thought is that perhaps contacting me gives him too many mixed emotions, and he just can't handle it. I always thought he cut off contact with me because he moved in with his girlfriend - but I don't know.

Well - I did respond - I just said That I was sorry we couldn't stay in contact, but I'd hope he'd at least do me the honor of letting me know about any huge life changing events - wished him luck. I'm not going to try to stay in contact with him, but I do miss him as a friend. I guess he had to do what he had to do, but just wish we could still be friends.

I'm dealing with my own recent break up - so I'll just keep on my way - just so random.

Well, this is definitely water under a bridge - only you're crossing the bridge now. Soon you'll be on the other side, and that water will soon be forgotten.

Don't feel bad - happens all the time. :)

I have been through the same too. I dated my first love for about 4 years and we have known each other since we were very young. We broke up due to a lot of misunderstandings . I love him and always will. We haven't talked for months now I miss him but at the same time its better off if we don't have contact cause it will just rewind everything over again instead of either of us moving forward.
