Just met, got his number, now what?
So I went to a wedding this past Saturday and while I was there the bartender caught my eye... well actually both of them did. It was my friend's older sister's wedding, so there weren't many guests there of my age (22), but both of the bartenders, were seniors in college like me. Anyway, after numerous trips to the bar and countless glasses of wine, I was hoping that one of them would ask me for my number, to no avail. Believe me, they were both equally gorgeous, and I never expected that one of them would find me attractive, I just held out hope. They chatted with me all night and finally as they were walking out the door (and one- yelled "bye" to me) and I was staying after to help my friend's family clean up, their boss came over to me with a piece of paper in her hand. When I looked at it, it had his phone number on it, and of course, I got extremely excited. Their boss then preceded to tell me about how they were good boys, etc. and that he had said not to be shy about calling. Now comes the hard part...

I feel awkward calling him and thought about sending him a text message instead - but I'm not sure what to say. So, I am really at a loss about what to do. I've had his number for two days now and have been debating on how to approach the situation. I work as a bartender at a horse racing track and guys there are always hitting on me and asking for my number, to which I always reply "give me yours" so that they won't have my number, but I never actually call them... and now a guy that I would actually like to try and get to know has given me his number and I'm too shy/scared/nervous/etc. to call! Obviously he wouldn't have given me his number if he didn't want to talk to me... but I just want to make sure I go about it in the right way, whatever that may be. So if you all could give me some advice as to whether I should call or text him? And if I should wait a couple more days before I contact him or if I've waited long enough already? I feel somewhat like a child for not already knowing the answers to my questions, but it's been a very long time since something like this has happened to me. Thanks for any input at all!!

I think you should just call him right away. Couldn't hurt. He is obviously interested in you. I met my now husband this same way. Back then there was no texting, but it does sound like a good option also. Don't wait, do it!
If you are worried you won't know what to say you could right a list of things to discuss before hand just in case.
    On another note...
Have you seen the movie "Swingers"? It is really funny and has a scene or two about this exact topic.

Personally I think you should call and just ask him if he's available most guys like when girls are upfront plus it sounds like he might actually be interested if he said don't be shy to call and the worst thing that can happen is he say no then you move on

    I agree with the others.

Call him, and just start thanking him for giving you his number, and would he be interested on his next day off, to spend a day at the beach, or maybe go out for lunch.

This is 2009 girlfriend! You have a perfectly good male, with a reference from his boss, giving you his phone number, and you're wondering what to do?

Oy, to be a few years younger, I'd help you out and call him myself lol

Make sure though, you meet where there are lots of people, and don't exchange personal information until you at least know his last name and a bit of personal information.

    Go for it!!

I agree, go for it. Call rather than text. He gave you the number he is interested. Clearly shy because he had his boss give it to you rather than give it to you himself so he may need someone to take the reigns. Call him and see what's there?
    HAVE FUN!

Agree with the others... call and give him a little grief for not being able to give you his number himself then go have some fun with him...

I would say call as well but I def wouldn't thank him for giving you his number. That would be weird and it would seem like something like this has never happen before (dont want him to think that). Other than that just be yourself and ask to meet up soon to chill.

Yup- call him. Don't txt him- certainly not to start. Be confident, upfront, and set something up. You're shy and nervous now because YOU like him, all those other guys you already knew you won over and maybe were not that attracted to :)

You will most likely call him, be all giddy like a school girl- and go hang out with him and have a blast, THINK POSITIVE!
