    Car speed/engine safety query
    Hi All,

I have a recently restored merc 78 280se (w116) on 2.8 engine. The car has been still for the last 15 years, until now.

I've often heard that when a car has been still that long you cannot drive it beyond a certain speed until you have done some miles on it.

My question is what speed should I not go over, and for how many miles? Is it 50Mph for the first 1000miles?

    Thanks

Drive it normally but don't cruise at the same speed. The objective is to have varying pressure on the rings.
