THis is the generator I want to install, 6800 Watt Portable Genearator ELECTRIC START

my plan is to mount a box on the outside of the house, with the 120-240V L14-30R inlet, so I can plug a extension cord if I need it or move the generator when I don't need it. Now my question is, do I use #6 copper for x y w and ground in a rubber jacket wire ? If that is so I am assuming x is pulling 30 amps and y is pulling 30 amps, which means that I need the 60 amp panel! Is my thinking right ? Thanks guys for you input in advanced!

Oh I am not asking about any wiring info about from the main panel to the transfer switch panel but I am planning about running teck outside to the plug or use a 6x6 box and come out with a LB down with pvc into the plug. Is this what you would do ?

Draw a 240 V load and two 30 Amp breakers in series.

Now is it 30 or 60?

Why not use an interlock kit and ditch the transfer switch.

I don't know is this generator able to kick off 60 amps? That's my question ! I am using a interlock kit I'm just refuring to it as a transfer switch

You have a L14-30R Receptacle, that is for 30 Amps.
You could run 4 #10's from Inlet Box to Panels Top Right Breaker(need a 30 Amp 2 pole for Generator), Add an Interlockkit, and your done. You may have a couple of 120 Volt recepticles on your Generator you could use as well.

NO. You use a two-pole 30A breaker as your backfeed breaker.
