My boyfriend has hpv warts. We have NEVER had intercourse without a condom, but some of the warts are on his testicles and on his pelvic area. I have recently learned that I could have oral HPV from giving him oral sex unprotected and because I have touched him sexually and then myself I also put myself at risk, but will I have vaginal warts and/or HPV at some point even with using protection? I am SO sick over this and sad. Please help.

Your chances of getting this improve with each sexual encounter you have with him especially if he has the warts on his testicles.

Even if you use a condom, there is still a chance you could become infected because the condom coud break or because they're on his testicles they could rub on your vagina during sex. You can also become infected by giving him oral sex without a condom on.

Have you ever had a HPV test done during one of your exams with a gynecologist? Condoms help, but don't offer complete protection given the other activities you have engaged in as well. There is a good chance you already have a strain of HPV. If you have had a partner before your current boyfriend, you may have even gotten it from him. Many women won't know whether they have HPV or not unless tested for it.

Certainly continue to use protection, but it would be wise to get tested yourself too.

No. I have not been tested for HPV but currently do not have any outward signs of it. I am 38 so when I inquired about the vaccine was told I was too old for it.

Yes, they do, but I'm not sure of what stage of life it is administered. I know that they are giving it to teen girls, but I am not sure of adults.

GARDASIL is the only cervical cancer vaccine that helps protect against 4 types of human papillomavirus (HPV): 2 types that cause 70% of cervical cancer cases, and 2 more types that cause 90% of genital warts cases. GARDASIL is for girls and young women ages 9 to 26.

GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone, and does not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so it’s important to continue routine cervical cancer screenings. The vaccine? With any new vaccine there are some side effects such as..

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. You may feel faint after receiving this vaccine, especially within the first 15 minutes after injection.

Other Gardasil side effects may include:

* pain, swelling, redness, or itching where the shot was given;
* mild fever;
* nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach;
* dizziness, tired feeling;
* runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough; or
* joint or muscle pain.

Also, many insurance plans do not cover it currently and it is quite costly. I do, however, plan on getting my daughter vaccinated if that's an answer to you Alty. So, I suppose I do trust it. The benefits SiGNIFICANTLY outweigh the risks.

I hope it's safe Alty, I had the vaccine last year (3 injections in total) and I panicked after reading the side effects.
I put it off but kept getting letters from my doctor telling me to come in (It was free at the time)
The only ill effect I had was my arm hurt for a few days.
Was very relieved!

Too old for the vaccine, but not for the test. It would be wise to find out. Many women do not know they have HPV as it can lie dormant for years... you may never have any outward signs.

In regard to the vaccine... one of my daughters has had the injections and the other is scheduled for them.

Just an FYI.. we went to have his warts removed and his Doctor told me that as of last month the vaccine is now approved for women up to 45 years of age. I will still get the vaccine, but of course it may already be too late. I don't have the signs of it and my pap smear shows nothing, but still.. the dormant factor... :confused:
