I am about to turn 16 and want to get emancipated but unlike most teenagers I want to hold off on that as much as possible. I have been trying to think of other ways to live with my only parent.The thing is I want to get emancipated but am not sure if I would have a good enough case or could do it.My situation is... My only parent and I are living with my grandmother and have been for 10 years.I curently have goten a job and am trying to save up as much as I can.It is not much but it will do for now.My only parent has no job and hasn't in 10 years since we have moved in here. She is curently living off my social security check and hers.By the end of this year her social security check will run out and she will be using mine for everything.She has still neglected to get a job after hearing this.Not to mention I am living in a pig sty literally and am surrounded by cluter.I don't have my own room and sleep with my mother. I am not sure what to do in this situation.Im not sure I should go and get emancipated or put up with all this and getting emotionaly tore down every day. I will admite she's not the abusive typ but when she gets a temper she does tend to get out of control sometimes.Do any of you have any idea on what I can do.My older boyfriend wants me to come live rent under his house but I honestly wan't a distract free environment and everything.I feel so stressed sometimes from the things I have to do and deal with.Wich is notmal in real life but more than I should be I feel.What's your advice? Please anything will help and honety even if it isn't what you want to hear is great. Thank you in advanced-Kat

What does your grandmother say about all this? Continue saving your money but to be emancipated you have to rent your own place not move in with a boyfriend.
If you live in Canada there is no emancipition as well as some states do not allow emancipation.
Your mom is putting too much responsibility on you. While technically I am sure she is the guardian of your money she really should not be putting the weight on you. She should be an example.
