Landlord Issues in Round Rock, TX
    Hello,
My question and situation here is a bit difficult. I found a duplex in round rock tx. On the 5th of aug my agent who was helping me locate a place, got in touch with the listing agent for the home, advising I was interested, needed a move in date of 15 aug and we would be sending paperwork soon. On 7 aug, I gave the app fee $40 1st mo rent $800 and dep $800 to the listing agent. On tues 11 aug she calls me and asks a few questions, then says she would be faxing things over to the owner for approval. She calls me on wed and says all is good, lets meet thurs to sign the lease. I asked her if she would meet me at the home, she said no because she had a meeting and some other stuff to do down in s. austin. OK. So I meet with her on Thursday, she has me initial and sign the lease. She said the only thing was that the stairs needed to have the carpet pulled up and they would have the wood laminate flooring put in. said it would be about a two day job, otherwise, it is ready. Okay, that's fine with me. So she gives me the lockbox combo where the keys are and I go on my way. I get to the place and it looks the same way it did when it was empty. No cleaning has been done, its in terrible need of a pro paint job. My children will be here on fri and we have nowhere to go. Is this a breach of contract as the place is not move in ready? Can I demand a full refund?

Greetings and WELCOME to the site, ginarachelle007!

I moved your question out of Introductions to this forum topic area so that it will be more likely to be noticed and addressed by those who are best able to answer it. Your question will get noticed much more here.

Introductions is for people to introduce themselves only, and we try to not ask questions there. We would appreciate it if you would return to Introductions sometime to tell us a little bit about yourself, if you would be willing to do that.

    Thanks!

    Hi again, ginarachelle007!

It's okay. Happens all the time here. It takes awhile to get used to how to use this site.

Now, the thing that I recommend that you do, is to be patient until the right people come along to address your question. The best ones to address it, might not even be online here now.

    Thanks!

I'm a very patient landlord and I believe I did a stupid thing... In New Jersey I thought that a rental agreement would become an automatic month-to-month lease until an new lease was signed.
