1997 honda civic won't start check engine
Hi, I have an accident like 2 weeks ago, and after recovering I try to start my honda civic hx 1997 it won't start I read some forums and that say main relay problem is common, but I already change the main relay and still won't start.

Battery is OK, radio and lights work.
I put the On switch and the check engine light come on, after 2 seconds it disappear, but then I hear a click and come on again, when I move the key to Ignition Place, the radio loses power and some lights too. I check the fuses and they all OK, battery on a tester say 12.70 volts so battery is OK, anyone can give me a clue what else can be? another thing is that the engine don't try to move it don't make any sound can it be the ECU?

    Thanks in advance :(
    Sorry my english

. Remove and fully charge or replace the battery. Using a multi-meter, and finding out that the "surface voltage" is 12.7 volts, doesn't ensure that the battery is any good. Placing the battery on a charger will reveal whether it has enough amperage to start your car or not. I suspect that the battery died during the two weeks since the accident.

. Clean battery terminals and cable connections.

    . ECU is fine.

Nope I change the battery and put a new one and still nothing the engine don't crank and nothing, the cause the airbags to open I don't know if I have to reset something, I read your guide about check engine in civics, could it be the ignition switch?

The SRS system may require that the air bags be replaced and the SRS system be reset, before the engine will start. I would call your local Honda dealer and ask them if that's the case. I have no experience with diagnosing SRS problems.

I'm sure there's an interlock that prevents your engine from starting, while the air bags are deployed. Common sense says it has to be that way. Fords have an inertia switch that cuts off fuel to the injectors, when the car is in an accident. The switch must be reset, afterwards.
