Black Lab jealous of new baby
My 4 yr old black Lab named Dakota is very jealous of our 7 month old little girl.
She is very sweet to our daughter and has never shown any aggression but she has started peeing in the house at night.
She has always slept inside the house so I do not want to have to put her outside at night. This morning she ran from my husband when it was time to put her outside for the day while we went to work. She never does that and it was quite unusual.
She still gets a lot of attention but of course not as much with a new baby.
How do I get this behavior to stop?

Are you sure it's the baby? 7 months is a long time for a dog to just start now. Maybe you need to get her to the vet to have a check up. It could be something else.:)

I guess it could be something else but I noticed after the baby was born she became very "in your face". Always right up there with the baby trying to flip your hand up and nudging you constantly. Then after a few months of that she seemed a little depressed before it went to the peeing on the carpet about 2 weeks ago...

I also forgot to mention she has tore up 3 of the babies outfits and 2 bibs along with napkins or paper plates if left on the table. She used to never tear up anything even if left on the ground.

My yellow lab was like that when we brought our first son home . He is an outside dog, so there was no inside competition, but on the front porch, or back patio, he was real jealous. I think, in MY opinion, she is just upset having to share your husband's and your attention. I think you should love her up a lot, and play and walk her a little more. It worked for our dog, and now he treats our boys like he's the secret service.

I think in time, she will be back to normal. But that's my opinion, I'm curious to see what the experts say. "Alty" and "Shaz" will probably give you some good stuff.

It's very possible your dog is worried that they will not get the same attention as before.

As far as urinating in the house goes - while this may be behavioural, I would recommend taking her to the vet to get her urine checked just in case there is an underlying cause, like an infection.
