Hello, My husband and I have been trying to fall pregnant with our fifth and last child but have had no luck. We have been doing the deed on all the right day's and this is the third month that I don't think we are pregnant. I am due for my period on 6th of this month and conducted a hpt thismorning with no joy I'm afraid.
Can a woman loose the ability to fall pregnant? I am only 30 years old but have had many abnormal births by this I mean people say it gets better with each birth but I am the oppisite I get worst with each birth to the point my last birth 4 years ago left me in hospitial for day's after having a massive hemmorage.
Hope someone can shed some light on this subject as we really would like to have another child before I get my tubes tied.

Once you reach menopause you are too old to get pregnant. I doubt you have gotten that far at 30.

You say you had a massive hemorrhage with your last delivery. You need to consult with your doctor to see if this may have possibly left you infertile.

However, you have only been trying for 3 months. It may take a while longer, up to a year of trying.

You should consult with your doctor to see if all your parts are in working order, if you know what I mean.:D

I'm curious where you got the term "fall" pregnant. I've never heard it referred to that way. One can "get" pregnant or "become" pregnant but its not something you "fall" into.

To becone pregnant you have to be producing eggs from your ovaries. The ability of the ovaries to produce can be affected by a number of factors, including age. However, if you are still having your period, then its probable you are still producing eggs. The best person to tell you whether you are or not is your doctor.

Yes I am still getting my period so SHOULD be able to get (not fall) pregnant.
I have alway's been brought up with the term fall pregnant I guess fall being another term used for becoming pregnant, you know for instsnce when you fall ill. I guess it is just a figure of speech.

Where are you from? Its just that I never heard that figure of speech before. I consider myself widely read and fairly knowledgeable and I never came across it. It maybe a very local idiom.

Yeah, that's the only reason I even looked in this thread... "Fall pregnant" strange. Based on the name of the poster "bugger me," I would guess Australian? British? South African?

It is a term that is widley used here to us it is the norm but to your guy's it is quite funny.
I wonder how many other terms I could come up with that you would find a llittle strange.lol

Its not a commotion, just a curiousity. I'm sure there are many idiomatic expressions that are different. This was just one I had never heard before. My father came home from WWII with a story about visiting some relatives while in London. Some how the conversation came around to clothes and he talked about wearing pants to some occasion. This amused the Londoners because, to them pants were what you wore under your trousers.

And I've always been amused by the Brit's use of the phrase "to knock you up" when referring to visiting someone. In the US, the phrase means to get someone pregnant, which kind of brings us back on topic ;)

just to get this thread completely off target, saw a movie last week with a quote that made me laugh out loud. The guy asked another guy what the secret was to having a good marriage. The second guy said "well you pick someone you're willing to be in a foxhole with. ..... and when youre not in the foxhole you keep your &^%$ in your pants"... my wife and I laughed out loud, but its pretty much true.

and just to make my posting remotely relevant, I agree with all that's been said, though J_9 doesn't need any validation, as her answers stand on their own. You have a lot of more fun to have before you can say there is a problem.

as for the hemorrhage, my wife had this with our first (hospitalized, almost died) and there were no problems with the second... but of course the doc knew about it second time around. Also, the next time we made sure she got plenty of rest after. The first time she was single mother and lack of rest after was one of several things that was mentioned as contributing to the problem. Not to mention the delivery room was clueless about some things.

as for the "too late to get preg." the only issue outside of menopause or prior problems that would hinder pregnant (scarring, endometriosis, etc) is the issue of "older eggs"... as in as you get older, your ability to get pregnant isn't decreased in terms of you physically (until menopause). It's the wear and tear on the females eggs that can make it harder to get pregnant as you get older. Studies of older women being fertilized with donors from young women show a great success rate. Likewise, there are some concerns about the aging of a mans sperm... even though they, unlike the females, are made something like in 3 months there can still be aging issues with DNA. But at 30, you shouldn't be worried about this at this time.
