    How to install activex
    Hi,

My son has a game for the PC. He also has a controller which is supplied with a disc to load the drivers. When loading the disc it states that ActiveX 7.0 or above should be installed.
I have looked on the net at this and the choice of downloads is confusing.
Could someone advise me which is the best or safest (if that counts) to download.

    Thanks

I think you possibly mean DirectX.
Assuming it's asking for you to install it, you are using an older machine.
That being the case the version you want is DirectX 9 which is available here: Download DirectX Redistributable March 2009 9.26.1590 - A very useful application for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements - Softpedia

Would also suggest latest Directx drivers for compatibility issues.

Which game is your son trying to get installed?

Do you have XP or Vista?

Go to this page and click on the window that comes up and let it install - this will install 8.0
Shockwave Download Center - Shockwave ActiveX Installation Page

    Activex is part of shockwave

    Try to install after success

Check the controllers webpage to see if they have any controller drivers for XP that may work - they may also have a FAQ section on their site that may be useful

Hi I did as you said. I got the box out of the trash and read the instructions (the ones my son said did not exist!) and set up the controller no problem.

Thanks to you for your assistance and advice. I should have known to get the packaging back out from the trash before checking with you guys. My son never reads instructions, he always thinks he knows best.

OK wait - he threw a game box in the trash? Isn't that like sacrilege or something? ;)
