Honda Civic 2001 is revving own it's own
    Hi there,

I have a 2001 honda civic standard transmission. Today the engine started revving without me touching the gas. Does anyone know what this might be?

    Thanks,

. Clean Idle Air Control Valve (IACV):

While you are at it, clean the throttle plate, ports, and throttle body.

. Set curb idle to specs:

. Check/replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor, if the problem persists.
