New Fan Motor - WIRING issue - not the same as old motor - SIBERIANAIR - Are you here?
I have a 7 year old Trane XE 1000 and 2 days ago the fan simply stopped spinning. It has been determined that it is the fan motor. I went and bought a new one but this motor comes with 4 wires (Black, White, Brown and Brown with White stripe). The old motor came with three wires which were Purple, Brown and Black.

If you click on this link, The old motor had 3 wires
With the first picture you can see exactly what I have wired with the old motor. The second picture shows the capacitor on top that has the old brown wire running to it.

Here is a breakdown of that capacitor as shown in the second picture
    ------------------------------------------
That capacitor has 3 MAIN terminals - it is labeled B on the picture

The terminal that the brown wire is connected to has 2 possible wire spade connections, one is free. The second terminal on the capacitor has 2 orange wires connected to it and has 3 possible spade connections. Here, one orange wire runs down to the primary gutz motor, the heart of the ac unit and the other orange is coming from UNIT C as listed on the picture. There is 1 free spade connection left. Lastly, the third MAIN terminal on top has 2 red wires connected to it out of a possible 4 spade connections. There are two available wire connections still free.

Now, I believe the new white wire goes where the old purple wire went; black where black went and brown where brown went. My question is, where does the brown with the white stripe go?

I did not get a new capacitor. If you tell me using the labeled picture in the link above where the brown wire with the white stripe goes, that would be VERY helpful.

A BIG thanks so far goes out to Siberianair…

On a new motor it is best to buy a capicitor just for the new motor alone, label on side of motor tells you the size needed (whoever sold it to you should have mentioned this),both the Br and Br/white go to the new capicitor it will have 2 post, one wire to each post
This same label on side of the motor will tell you where to put the other 2 wires

Sorry... I already told you it will not work that way. You will damage something. You need to go get that new capacitor.

Brown with white stripe and brown go to the new capacitor. The other two wires go to the contactor(220/240 volt terminals) to be activated by a call for cooling. Abandon or terminate all other old wiring.
