HI all, only here for a few minutes.
Bear, do you know where the expression "sleep tight' originated?
Here is some useless info...
In the 1600's people used to tie their mattresses to their beds to make the mattress firmer, thus the tighter the ropes the firmer the mattress: "sleep tight" equals firm mattress.

I didn't know that stringer, its usually said along with 'dont let the bed bugs bite' so I presume it was something to do with preventing that :)

Stringer, you remind me of my dad (not the age dear, the info).
My dad would always have interesting info at his fingertips. We'd be sitting at the table for Sunday dinner and all of a sudden he'd say "Did you know that the humming bird flaps it's wings at a speed of...." well, you get the point.
I always loved that. I miss that. We'd laugh at that. It was always so out of place with the rest of the conversation. :)
Hi Unky, Hi Bear. :)

I'm surviving.
In true Canadian fashion the weather has taken a turn for the worse.
It's 10 degrees celsius outside. August is usually our hottest month, I think someone messed up!
It feels like fall right now. :(
Other then small brain with too much info syndrome, how are you Stringer? :)

Sorry about the weather there Alty, it was kind of chilly when we were at Mackinac Island in Lake Huron very near Canada. Averaged about 70 degrees each day, wind breaker weather with the winds from the lake.
I am fine, just having some blues from being back from vacation, you know how that is. I am trying to get too much done I think in the time since I have been back, but... it has to be done soooo... :)

Coming back from vaca is always tough. We haven't been on a vacation for so long that I honestly don't remember what it feels like.
Our vacations usually consist of camping. We try to do a lot of weekend trips, but the last two years it hasn't been possible.
When my parents were alive we went to Penticton every year. It's a town in British Columbia. Beautiful mountains, lakes, heat, you name it. I love it! It's like Hawaii in Canada. :)
I miss it. We haven't been to Pentiction since the kids were small, Jared was almost 5, Sydney almost 1.
We plan to go next year, then the year after that we're planning on a trip to Germany, to see my family, show the kids a bit of their heritage, they'll be old enough to really appreciate it by then.
Sigh. I'm homesick. :(

I understand about the trouble in getting away Alty, very much so. You need to just plan for it and do it. If it wasn't for Marta insisting I probably would have found an excuse (business) as I have for the last three years. The last time I got away was when we went back to Pittsburgh, Pa when my mother passed. But, once I was there, I wondered why I hadn't done this more, it renews the soul I believe. It is a shame that you kind of 'pay' for it when you return.
We are to have some hot weather starting tomorrow here, they are predicting temps in the mid nineties for the next several days. We haven't had rain for some time, the grass is 'passing away." I had to water last night for two hours... there goes the water bill.
I really think that you should do the vacations, both of them.
