    Tile shower bench
    What is the best way to build a tile shower bench that is shaped like a rectangle with one end that is open, I don't know of the best way to waterproof the bench with the cement board and shower pan liner below

    Another question is what is the best way to build out an area behind tile that is thinner than others like for a accent band in a shower

    As long as the framing can support the weight, you can build one out of blocks and mortar. Another option would be a preformed tile ready lightweight bench such as one from Noble company. Sheet Membranes & Shower Installation Products for Tile & Stone

    For the tile build out, what kind of "thinner tile" and what's the thickness difference?
