    Trying to improve,any suggestions?
As somebody who's in this phase of her life where she's looking within and trying to improve herself both personally and professionally,I am forced to face and overcome one of the most annoying habits I have--that of procrastination. Its a long-time trait of mine and now more than ever I feel like I want to do something about it.

Its not that it is out of hand or is coming in the way of my work. But yes,on very hectic days when there's a lot to be done,I find myself just trying to go through the day(without being productive or effective at all).I tend to answer unimportant mails and phone-calls,trying to tell myself I am working but at the end of the day I can't lie to myself.

Maybe its because I have a small attention span and tend to feel bored with routine work.I am in sales, though, and each day brings new challenges,so its not really routine work after all.But some days even challenges feel routine so much so that I frequently think of giving it all up and just taking a long break.

Any ideas how to tackle procrastination and frequent boredom or lack of proper concentration?Would really welcome any suggestions.

I function better in hectic. Lately (past two months) I haven't had anything urgent to do so I have fallen into procrastionation which I always hated. So I am having the same problem only opposite.
When I have hectic days I found that what works best for me is when you go to sleep pick out the major things you need to accomplish the next day and make a list in order. Then when you wake up do a quick mental outline and visualize a run through the day like A pick up the mess, do the chores then B run to bank, store, errands then C back home etc..

When I dread cleaning the house I get the quick stuff done first like doing a run through the house throwing any garbage out (cigarette butts, soda bottles, or whatever), put everything in the right room, dirty clothes, dirty dishes, etc...
Just doing a quick pick up of stuff like this helps to make the place look like you made some progress and it doesn't look so bad then.
Then I start on the stuff I really don't want to do and get it out of the way.
Then I clean one room at a time or just clean one room that needs it most.

Try making a schedule for yourself. Make artificial deadlines for yourself.

For example, if you need to get something done by Friday, force yourself to get it done by Wednesday. You can still put your procratination habits into use. Procrastinate to get it done by Wednesday. That way, you will have 2 extra days to get something else done.

And also, maybe just being a bit tough on yourself and scolding yourself to do your job are the best ways out in some situations, isn't it:)haha

Which I do when all else fails and believe me,it does work!

If you have trouble starting a project/task, try setting a timer and telling yourself you will do only 5-10 minutes. Most of the time, you will have enough motivation to continue after those times. This does not work for everyone, but you can at least try.
