can u help me solve this? Xsqurd minus 5x minus 6

$x^2-5x-6$

You cannot solve this. There isn't any equal sign. That's an expression.

What you can do here is factorise;

$x^2-5x-6 = (x+1)(x-6)$

You can see it from here:

$x^2-5x-6 = x^2 +x-6x-6=x(x+1)-6(x+1)=(x+1)(x-6)$

If it was : $x^2-5x-6 = 0$ , then, solving will be:

$x^2-5x-6 =0$

$(x+1)(x-6)=0$

$x+1 = 0$ or $x-6=0$

Then;

$x = -1$ or $x=6$
