Solar Power Questions
Hello,
I have read that there are also inverters that one can directly plug into home power sockets, and that these inverters will actually feed electricity back into one's home through a normal power socket? Is this true? Are there inverters with built-in batteries available in the market? Can you please suggest appropriately and give me some recommendations?
Thanks

Inverters convert DC (direct current) into AC (alternating current). Your house current is already AC. Doesn't sound logical, why would you want to do such a thing.

You can have a generator that powers your home, or you can have a batter system that can use a invertor to power your home either as a back up or from solar or wind sourse. But none of these would "plug" into your system and would be very costly

Difference between Motor Electric Gen and Solar Electric through Inverter
I intend using 10 solar modules @ 180watts each - 24V. The idea behind my question is this. - if an electricgenerator can supply electricity directly to my house with use of appropriate power inlet box and appropriate connections to the circuit system when there is an utility power failure. I am then wondering if a solar powered electricity, through the use of an inverter, can also be connected as such, when there is States' Utility power failure directly to my Circuit system. What are the necessary eqipment? I will really be thankful for giving be your best answers.
Thanks

I'm not sure what you are trying to do but 180 watts times 10 solar panels equals 1800 watts. Eighteen hundred (1800) watts divide by 120 volts equals 10 amps. Where you located?

I merged your questions, as they are all related. Keep with the same thread your questions about solar power.
The vendor you purchased your solar panels from should be able to provide any answers and products you need to complete your system.

I take it you mean 24 volt panels, and not 12 volts wired in pairs, 1800/24=75 Amps.
They do make inverters with Batteries built in.
They are UPS's.
A recent code change to require Condos to Have Emergercy lights to provide 1 1/2 hour of lighting after an outage.
I asked the fire Marshall if I could use an Inverter and Battery Packs to light existing Hall lighting, They never been asked that, so a week later he said sure. Its up and running, Condo's happy not to have additional lights(emergency lights)hanging everywhere.
Will be interestin to see during next outage, that building fully lit. with most everything else in the dark. Almost can't wait.

I know honda makes a small ups that can be pluged into a reguar outlet(charges a battery and will pwer small loads for a short time), but as far as a solar/wind system you would need the proper equipment to convert your dc into ac and would need to interconet that with your electrical service,(meaning permits and your power providers blessing) so if that's what you want to do you will need a licenced electrican.

I Believe the Man Means a Grid Tie Inverter. That you can use to sell power back to the EC or to Slow Down His Meter . Paul
