Will Facebook or twitter work for in organizing a family reunion?
I'm organizing a family reunion and would to know if opening a Facebook, twitter account is a good way of contacting and staying in touch with family members planning on attending the reunion? I have never used Facebook or twitter. Thanks

Yeah Facebook is good since many people have it now and you can make a section for family members and it's a good way to find other family memebers and there email
I think family reunions are great and you should email or call the people coming and give them a date and time for the even and ask some if they want to bring stuff from food, games, silver wear etc.

I've also heard twitter is good but I've heard its mostly for status updates and stuff with Facebook you can message and comment

Facebook helps tremendously in spreading the word about your reunion - we used it very effectively to find people for ours.

I would use Facebook in conjunction with Reunion Manager - http://reunionmanager.com to allow people to register for the reunion online and pay via PayPal. This site has the lowest online payment cost. We almost were going to use Myevents.com but decided their fees were absolutely ridiculous when compared to Reunion Manager.

You could save yourself trouble and just use email. Make a group of those in the loop and then send to "all" in that group to keep them up to date.

I think it works better for a reunion of friends than for relatives - different generations. I would recommend that you instead get everyone's email addresses, and for those who don't have email, just print the email messages and mail a copy.
