Didn't know where to put this so I'm sticking it here :)

This is our new indoor rabbit run...
    Dimensions are
    60cm deep
    200cm long
    60cm high (each section)

Spent hours lining the darn with out with lino so it was easy to clean.
Also bought a small (but broken) pet carrier cheap so the babies up top have a hiding box.
And Dora has the same down the bottom.

It doesn't look the best at the moment but we are putting fancy wood over the front of it so it looks all pretty.

    Anyhoo...
1st pic, my partner and his mate putting it together (my other half is in the black top)
    2nd pic, the basic frame.
    3rd pic... Finito!

The plastic litter trays? No they don't touch them...

The lino has had pine put all around the edges of it... the bunnies will chew the pine but it's easy to replace.

They will chew anything made of wood :D That's why I made the pine strips replacable! But they have never chewed plastic... they both love digging the litter boxes though!
I need to put something rough in there so hopefully they will run on it and I won't have to cut their darn nails...
Haven't had to do the babies yet but Dora is scary, I literally have to wrap her in a towel with one leg poking out so she doesn't claw me to death.
Jack is a good boy, you just hold him on his back and you can do pretty much anything to him, only bunny I know that will go to sleep while having a tummy rub, all the others hate it.

Ok, just for Shazzy and Alty... this is the baby bunny that I was talking about and the situation that happened with my son on Saturday, turns out the Momma Bunny didn't abandon the baby.

When I was out on the grill, I saw the baby, came in for my camara and the baby bunnies had duplicated to two. While I was photographing the two baby bunnies... guess who should come hopping around the corner, but a big ole Momma Bunny! On my last trip out to get photos, Momma was feeding the babies, that turns out to be three. :)

BTW, just so you know, my son just commented that if you read this whole passage, "That you guys need a life!"... oh the fun of a twelve year old boy. He will not make it to thirteen at this rate.

Yep, but it won't be the first or the last, they have a garden behind us and a fence that is easy to go through and I am in Illinois, bunnies multiply like rabbits around here.

    Lucky you.

We live in the burbs, there are too many cats and dogs around here for bunnies to make their homes near us.

We have the odd Jackrabbit stopping by, but never for long.

That's okay though, I have my own bunnies to watch. In fact, one of them just tooted.

    TMI? :o

Grr I just typed out a huge message and hit a wrong button and deleted it... now I have to remember what I said

I have good news and bad news... The twins have found a new home.
    It is good and bad..
Bad because I will miss them terribly...
Good because the person taking them can afford to get them spayed and will definitely love them!

The person who took them is my cousin, she said a while back that she loved them and was interested in taking them, Alty gave me some great advice on how to try and tame them a bit more... it did work to a degree but they were still very, very skittish and need spaying to help them further (something we couldn't afford)

I feel bad but I will still be seeing them on holidays when we go down south the visit and they are better off where they are now (free run of the house more often! Woohoo!) :)

Now... the other reason I am posting this is to share the new bunny run we have been building...
We knew she was taking them on the weekend and we came to the realisation that the huge run we had built for 3 rabbits was going to be WAY too big for the 1 we now have...

We had a look in pet stores for indoor cages but for one big enough for Dora was $260.00

We decided to make our own! So far it has cost us $00.00

The metal came from my partners mothers - left over from when they built her deck
The wire came from my parents - Left over from their dog runs.

My partner already had a welder and a grinder.

We banged it all together and the picture bewlow is what we got!

All I have to do now is add a plastic tray! (worked out it will cost about $10.00)

Oh and here's a baby photo of Dora from about 2 years ago to keep with the cute bunny theme :p
