Hello

I have a old tub that I want to replace that is located in a 3 wall alcove. The supply side of the tub has a 6'' thick cement wall blocking access to the drain system from the backside (house is built on slope, 20y old and this is on bottom floor which is cement, no crawlspace that I know of). I am currently pulling up the tile and floor on the access side of the tub to see if access underneath the tub is possible. Has anyone ran into a similar problem and how was it handled. Can you connect the drain pipe to the raiser before attaching to tub then place tub in alcove and connect overflow and drain? I am grateful for any advice. Thanks:confused:

It sounds like you have a cement slab that the tub sets on. Are you asking if you can set the tub on a platform and off set the drain from the old trap raiser? Back to you? Regards, Tom

Yes, the tub is on a cement slab but there is a cement wall about 20in high (wall framing is attached to it) in front of the tub where you would normally access the drains slipnut. My question is how do I disconnect the tub or reconnect a new tub drain to the raiser? I don't know how to remove the tub drain from the raiser with the cement wall in the way( I don't want to break into the cement, its 6-8in thick). Also, how would I connect a new drain with the cement wall in the way? Do you think putting the tub on a platfrom will make it easier to access the joint for drain to trap? Your thoughts will be helpful. Thanks, Tim

A 20" high block wall closing off the tub access and you want to unhook the tub and install it elsewhere? Sounds like you're otta gas until make a access hole through that wall. Once you have made a hole in the wall you may disconnect the tub and elbo over to the new location from the trap raiser.
