    Doorbell Transformer Location
I have a doorbell that is not working. I know it is the transformer - but I can't seem to locate the transformer in the house anywhere. It is not by the electrical panel either. How do I go about finding it?
    Thanks, carol

Are you sure that it is not a battery powered wireless door bell?

I have found chime transformers INSIDE circuit breaker panelboards, even thou they do not belong there.

If you can trace the low voltage cable from the chime and/or doorbell button, it should lead you to the transformer.

Doorbell getting hot [ 2 Answers ]

My husband and I just installed a new doorbell since the one that was there was somewhat on the dated side. They both are lighted doorbells, but this one is getting hot to touch. I didn't notice the old one ever doing that. Is that safe or is there a problem with it?
