    Intertherm heat pumps
I was wondering how dependable the intertherm heat pumps are and what is their life expectancy? My carrier died after 30 years.

That manufacturer does a good job on building a unit. I do not believe you will find a unit today that will last 30 years so if that is what you are looking for good luck.

Most equipment is just about the same except for the efficiency rate in SEER's. The higher the number the more efficient it is BUT that does not mean it will last longer just because it has a higher efficiency rate.

The install is where the action is as far as longivity is concerned. A cheap unit installed by a perfectionist has a better chance of lasting longer than the most expensive unit you can buy. In other words the install says it all when it comes to a long lasting good running unit.

I will not go into the process of a quality install since I could type all day on the subject.

Intertherm is made by Nordyne, they are commonly used in moblie homes.it is the quality or the install,if it is a good installl, your looking at about a 10-15 years out of it.
    Hope this Helps.
