Rebates for Replacing AC and Furnace
We need to replace both our AC and our furnace, and we want to be sure we're making the right choices to take maximum advantage of the current rebates.

Our current plan is to replace our old furnace with a similar 90% efficiency unit and to replace our 13 SEER AC with a 16 SEER model. Both would be Goodman products, I believe, and the total cost quoted to us was $5600 with $1500 of that coming back on our taxes in the form of a rebate.

We would love to go with a lesser SERR, but we have been told that we need a 16 SEER to qualify for the rebate. Is this true? We've also been told that the 16 SEER combo will cost us less after the rebate than the 13-15 SEER combos would cost without the rebate. Does this sound right to you all? Could we qualify for the rebate with a lesser SEER product?

Also, are there any Virginia-specific rebates out there? I've run some searches and haven't found anything.

And finally, are we missing anything else as we think this through? It's obviously a big investment and we're feeling a bit nervous about it all.
