    Gmail pop issues
Having a problem with my gmail. I use both a laptop and a desktop. I was able to set up my earthlink account in Outlook with "leave copy on server" option and after downloading a copy to my laptop I could be sure that I would get a copy on my desktop as well.

However, no matter which way I test it, it does not seem to work with gmail.

The only way I can do it is as follows:

    1) gmail settings online: leave gmail's copy in Inbox
    2) gmail settings online: enable POP for email even if it's been downloaded
    3) Select Send/Receive in desktop Outlook

In other words I receive the email on my laptop... but if I also want the copy to come down to my desktop I need to go into gmail.com/my account and select #2 above each time. Since the email is sitting in gmail's inbox I guess that prompts it enable POP again, even for the email that's already been downloaded?

I realize that I can just rely on gmail.com for the backup copy but this is how I've always done it and I like to keep all my email categorized in my desktop version of Outlook.

Any help/suggestions or explanation as to why this might be happening is greatly appreciated. :p
