    Bees, Wasps, and Water Troughs
Just wondering if there is something that I can add to water trough water to eliminate bees, wasps and like insects from entering into my horses trough. Is there something safe that will drive away the pests, but won't harm my horse or dogs?

    Thank You,

Howdy! Rshowell1127, and welcome to AMHD :)

Unfortunately, there is nothing safe for what you seek... but
    I have a couple'a ideas.

Bee's and Wasps are very territorial and you can fool them by hanging a replica of a nest in the vicinity of the water trough, now you can buy 'em or make 'em. I made mine outa paper mache'
    • Authentic Stick for a hanger
    • Chicken wire for frame
    • Use your imagination
    • Lt. Grey spray paint
Not sure how it works, but it does. The one link I'll leave, says 20', but mine were farther than that.

If that doesn't work you may want to try an On-Demand watering system. Your animals learn to tap a target with their noses, your metered amount of water fills the bowl, they drink, no excess water.
Lots of ideas. Heated one's to, for the winter.:
On-Demand animal watering system - Google Search

Lookin' through my chest o' marks and found these two, the first shows the “Waspenator” can be ordered either site:
    Natural Wasp Control
    www.bugspray.com

This site offers download-able PDF's (their big) on Insects, pests, farmland management. Unless you want a print version, watch which link you click or you'll go to the buy-site.
