My chiwawa terrier eats his own poop
Me and my boyfriend have two chiwawa/ terriers (brothers) and only one puppy (dodi) eats his poop. I feed them both the same, dodi is even a little chunky for how tiny he is. He just loves poop and doesn't hesitate to eat it! I was told he was the runt but he bully's sid (his brother) when they are eating so it makes me think he's not the runt, but sid is also so timid. I just don't know what it is

    What do I do?
Is this going to make him sick?
    Is this normal?
Why does only dodi eat his poop and not sid? (not like I want him to)

It's a stage a lot of puppies - if not most - go through. There are various products to sprinkle in their food which will stop this habit. Some of the products work, others do not.

I would clean up after the dogs as quickly as you can and not make a big deal out of this - as sickening as it is to humans.

Studies appear to prove that there is no connection between diet and Coprophagia
(if that is why you are asking). If you find something to the contrary, I'd be interested.

I was unaware of any studies like that, but your link mentions lacking of certain nutrients to a cause, which is what I was thinking.

The lack of nutrients is a load of baloney to be honest.

We had a Shih Tzu that did this and went through all the tests and there were no deficiencies of any kind. She was on good quality food.

Some dogs just do it, some breeds are also more prone to eating their own poop, Shih Tzus and Yorkies being the most common.

I have heard that feeding a small amount of pineapple can help but I don't know how true that is.
