    Child abandonment/neglection
Eight months ago my Mother and I moved to Georgia from Florida, because my Mother wanted to divorce my Dad. After living here for awhile with my aunt and uncle my Mom would come back and forth because she still worked in Florida. After some time she decided she wanted to stay in Florida with my father. I was already enrolled into a school in Georgia and was liking it so I didn't move back with her. My Dad got fired from his job and my mom quit, yet they still want me to come back and live with them, but they are in no position to support me, they both don't work. Is there a law stating they must send child support or help me out financially? Also, what is the Georgia state law regarding residency? Could my Mother possibly be charged with child abandonment or neglection?

The answer is no. And that's across the board. If they are requesting your return and unless they gave up custody to your aunt / uncle then you need to return to your parents. If you don't think that sounds right then you might think again should the police or FBI get involved. If they are holding you against the law that could be kidnapping. Try to work it out and return as requested.

No she left you in the care and custody of your aunt and uncle. As a minor child your mom and dad may come get you anytime they want, ( including mid school year if needed)

    How old are you,

Okay as pointed out they can make you move back with them at any point until you are an adult. No, also to the support question... if they were to send anyone money it would be your aunt and uncle not you. Third, yes it is serious if you don't return when they want you back because they can get the FBI involved and if your aunt and uncle let you stay there they can be charged with kidnapping (a serious crime). If you go back there and don't have any food at all in the house or something drastic like that then you can talk to one of your school counselors about shelters or something of the like to turn to.
