Weed eater head won't spin fl20c. Why?
My featherlite weedeater head won't spin. It's the one you can get attachments for. I just got it 2 months ago. The shaft in the upper part is spinning. What could it be?

I would say the power shaft has broken or it is not locked into the weed eater head properly, check to see if it is locked in by turning the weed eater attachment and watching the upper shaft, I would guess that is does have a centrifugal clutch on it , if not it should turn the engine when turning the head , hope this helps

For a Weedeater Featherlite it is possible the head assembly coupling has come loose. The head can be removed by unscrewing it carefully and then the coupling and drive cable guide needs to be re-inserted into the tube and then crimp the tube around the drive cable guide and coupling. I crimped mine by creating an indent with a chisel and hammer two locations around the tube circumference so it would not come loose and disconnect itself again.

Hi everyone, I am a repair tech at the Northern Tool & Equipment store in Tulsa, Ok. I've seen a few of the FL20C trimmers come in with the same issue. It has always been a loose shaft assembly. Check the middle connection point on the shaft make sure that the half with the hex screw is pulled all the way down towards the motor and then tighten it down. Also check the upper shaft to see if there is up/down movement, if there is pull towards the engine and then tighten the upper shaft screw (the center screw at the upper end of the black handle). This should take care of the intermittant loss of spin for the head.
