    Basement rough in question
    Help please,

I am attempting to finish a bathroom in my basement, and I'm somewhat unsure how to proceed with the finish plumbing. In a conversation with my builder (over seven years ago) I recall asking for connections to be placed in the floor for a toilet and lavatory. I also requested a connection for a possible utility tub. My questions are as follows:

    1. Would the 4" and 2 1/2" pipes be for the toilet and lavatory?

    2. Does the "wc" and arrow on the top of the 4" pipe indicate the direction the toilet should be placed?

    3. Would it be reasonable to assume that the pipe that is placed outside the alcove be the intended pipe for the utility tub drain?

    4. Finally, do I need to be concerned about venting the lavatory, or would the plumber have addressed this concern, and if so, would this pipe only require a trap prior to connection to the lavatory?

I have attached pictures to help with visualization of my questions. Thanks in advance for any possible help.

    Yes
    2. Does the "wc" and arrow on the top of the 4" pipe indicate the direction the toilet should be placed?
If the arrow points away from the wall the answer is yes.
    3. Would it be reasonable to assume that the pipe that is placed outside the alcove are be the intended pipe for the utility tub drain?
Yes it would. This pipe should also be inside a wall.
    4. Finally, do I need to be concerned about venting the lavatory, or would the plumber addressed this concern, and if so, would this pipe only require a trap prior to connection to the lavatory?
I don't see a pipe going up to the roof so you will have to vent BOTH the lavatory and the utility sink. You may tie both vents together and run up to the attic and revent back to a existing roof vent, but EVERY fixture that has a trap MUST be vented. Good luck Tom

Got a real newbie question. I'm in the final stages of finishing my basement and am turning my attention to the bathroom. Our house is about 6 years old and we had the builder rough-in a 1/2 bath for us (so venting and stub are already present). I have the closet flange just about ready to go...
