    Deck plan cost
I have a small deck that was put up improperly. I need to have it replaced. I have to apply for a permit and a person associated with someone we were considering building the deck would like to charge us $300 to do the plans (deck 8x14 with a roof and steps) for the county. It seems like a lot to me. I would expect maybe $100. Does it seem reasonable? I live in Maryland.

Seems a bit high, but that may be the going rate where you live, or if it's a detailed plan/blueprint, not just a sketch on a piece of paper. I paid $150 for landscaping plans. Does your county require a formal plan? If I'm reading your post correctly, this person is "associated" with the guy whom you were considering to build the deck. Hmmmmm, maybe he recommends the planner and they split the fee??

Deck tables, tributary load, and beam size for deck [ 4 Answers ]

I am confused with "deck tables" from different sources, specifically concerning beam size for a deck. I am planning a basic deck as shown: 9677 Sources that describe the "tributary load" and "tributary length" would allow me to use as little as (1) 2x6 for the "front beam" (tributary...
